What's the difference between an Essential Oil and a Fragrance Oil?
Essential Oils Essential Oils are pressed/extracted from plants with processes that are not supposed to alter the natural structures of the oils. Most Essential Oils are created via the Extraction method - from plants through steam distillation. Plants are suspended over boiling water and the steam pulls the oils out of the plant. The steam rises and is captured. When the steam cools, it condenses back into the water. As water & oils do not mix, the two separate and the essential oil is collected. Expression Method - this is the most direct method of producing essential oils. Pressed from the plants flesh, seeds & skins. Used mainly for citrus peels, because the oil in the peel is easily pressed out. Fragrance Oils Fragrance Oils are synthetic. They have a scent that tends to last longer than an Essential Oil and can be stronger scented. Fragrance Oils are usually a combination of Essential Oils, synthetic aroma chemicals and aromatic resins. There are over 350o materials (aroma chemicals, essential oils and essential oil components) that are approved for use in fragrance oils. We only use skin safe Fragrance Oils in our products There's nothing better after a long day on your feet than a relaxing Foot Soak. Peppermint has a calming, softening and anti-inflammatory effect on skin, and epsom salts ease stress and relaxes the body. What a fantastic combination to soothe your feet and allow you to relax. Below is the recipe .. enjoy! Peppermint Foot SoakWhat you will need:
Place the baking soda and epsom salt in your processor or blender. Cut open the tea bags and pour contents in as well. Blend on high for about 1 minute or until all the ingredients are turned to a powder. Spoon into your jar and close the lid tight to seal. That's it! A tablespoon added to very warm water is great for your feet. Alternatively you can add 1/4 cup to your bath water for a heavenly soak. Lastly if you like giving handmade gifts at Christmas time, add a cute ribbon and label to the jar. Then you will have a lovely gift for someone ... handmade by you! |
